The Free Will Players Theatre Guild is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Administrative Intern to join our team for the 2026 Freewill Shakespeare Festival. This paid student position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program and is open to applicants between the ages of 15 and 30, making it ideal for someone interested in arts administration, event coordination, and nonprofit operations who is looking to gain hands-on experience in a professional theatre environment.
About the Role
The Administrative Intern supports the day-to-day operations of the Freewill Shakespeare Festival, working closely with the Production Manager, Assistant Managing Director, and festival administrative team. This position plays a key role in keeping festival operations organized, efficient, and responsive.
This role offers practical experience across multiple areas of arts administration, including scheduling, communications, record-keeping, and event coordination. The successful candidate will gain insight into the inner workings of a large-scale outdoor theatre festival while developing professional skills in organization, collaboration, and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Provide general administrative support to the Production Manager, Assistant Managing Director, and festival team
Assist with scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and coordinating communications with staff, volunteers, and artists
Maintain and organize festival records, databases, and documentation
Support volunteer and donor communications, including maintaining contact lists and assisting with correspondence
Assist in planning and coordinating festival events, workshops, and community programs
Help track and organize financial records, purchase orders, and budget-related documentation
Participate in both office-based and on-site administrative tasks during the festival
Support safe, professional, and collaborative workplace practices
Perform other duties as assigned to support overall festival operations

Eligibility: Must meet Canada Summer Jobs Requirements for Employment:
be between 15 and 30 years old at the start of their summer job
be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the job and
be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
this includes having a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of their summer job
