The Free Will Players Theatre Guild is seeking motivated and reliable Audio Assistants to join the production team for the 2026 Freewill Shakespeare Festival. This position is ideal for students or emerging technicians who are interested in developing hands-on experience in theatrical audio within a supportive and educational festival environment.
About the Role
The Audio Assistant supports the planning, installation, operation, and maintenance of all audio systems for festival productions. Working under the supervision of the Head of Audio, Sound Designer, and Production Manager, Audio Assistants help ensure smooth and reliable audio operation during rehearsals and performances while building professional technical skills.
This role combines practical training, teamwork, and real-world production experience in a live performance setting.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with load-in, setup, operation, and strike of audio equipment
Support the Head of Audio during rehearsals and performances
Assist with microphone maintenance, battery management, and cable organization
Be available for pre-show audio checks and live operation support
Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized audio workspace
Follow all safety protocols and emergency response procedures
